The gaming industry has become rife with corporatization
Publishers weaponize our legal system and their legal departments to shut down independent developer's creativity and profitability. They patent basic gaming concepts, sue indie developers and fan projects, and impose abusive terms in their EULAs.
Gamers are subject to endless microtransactions and gambling mechanics, often treating their customers as ATMs. Companies squeeze us for every penny and build more and more exploitative features to keep us hooked.
Despite being more expensive than ever, AAA games have become more glitchy and unfinished. Whether it's false advertising for pre-orders, intentionally making offline games paid for obsolete, or bloating game files to hundreds of gigabytes, gamers get less now for $60 $70 $80 than when we first picked up the controller.
Until this point, no organization has existed for consumer rights in the gaming industry, an industry that affects more than 50% of the American people. Stop Gaming Greed will be a launching pad to fight gaming industry greed and ensure gaming remains for the community.
To do this, Stop Gaming Greed will hold corporations on the record and hold them accountable to their statements.
